Optical Services

Eye Tests

Our eye examinations are bulk billed and use state of the art equipment to examine the eyes comprehensively and accurately.

Our optometrists will provide vision advice as well as determine the appropriate spectacles or contact lenses for all your daily needs.

The general health of the eyes will also be examined, especially screening for conditions such as dry eyes, cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy.

State of the art equipment used includes visual field analyser and sophisticated high-resolution digital retinal photography.

Annual comprehensive eye examinations are recommended, or sooner if any changes in your vision are noticed.

Retinal Photography

Retinal photography takes photographs of the retina, optic nerve and blood vessels. It helps the optometrist to better assess the health of eye and to detect disorders early like macular degeneration, diabetes, glaucoma and even cancer.

It provides a much better, clearer view of the retina and also provides a historical record of changes to your eye and allows the optometrist to track your eye health over time.

It also allows the optometrist to display the photographs on a large, high resolution screen in order to explain all the structures and function of the retina. The procedure is also quick and painless, and in most cases does not require any eye drops.

Retinal photography is recommended at every routine comprehensive eye examination and this service is available for a small fee.

Children’s Vision

Young children often have their eyesight assessed as part of their routine developmental checks. However, it is recommend that your child have their first comprehensive eye examination by an optometrist before the age of three.

The first 7-9 years of a child’s life are critical for eye development and their vision plays an important part of their reading, writing and learning. Poor eyesight can cause learning and behavioural problems, which might be blamed on other things. This is especially true for young children as they may not even be aware they have a problem at all.

A bulk billed examination before they attend school can help identify any issues and problems early, setting them up for a productive and fulfilling school life. Our optometrist will assess all facets of their vision including colour vision, binocular and stereo vision, and provide detailed advice about their vision needs.

Contact Lenses

Whether you need your spectacles for distance, reading or a combination of both, there is likely a contact lens option available for you. Our optometrists will advise you on the most suitable option no matter whether it is for sports, work, special events, or regular use.

Our laboratories offer the very best in lens design and technology. We use the latest in High Index, UV and Blue light control lenses.

Optical Lab Services

The Spectacle Store has an on-site laboratory providing a range of services including lens cutting, adjustment and repairs by our fully qualified Optical Mechanic.

We are one of the few remaining practices who can cut and fit lenses to frames in store for any urgent requirements.
